Breed: Boxer Mix
Age: 9-10 Months
Adoption Fee: $450
This beauty is Daisy, and we need to find her a new foster or forever home. Daisy was adopted last year and has come back to us. She is a 9-10 month old suspected Boxer mix.
The problem with Daisy is that she is absolutely terrified of men. She had been brought in to a shelter in Alabama as a stray, so we don’t know her past. But her adopters exhausted every effort, including hiring a trainer to try & work on the fear, and unfortunately have not been able to make progress. We applaud them for trying as much as they did, and know that they are heartbroken over the decision, but none of us want Daisy to live in fear of the male in the home. Her reaction to men is to try to run away & hide in another room. If she can’t get away & feels cornered by a male, no matter how nice he’s trying to be, she growls and urinates herself in fear. We did not know this at the time of adoption, as she had only been handled by female volunteers, but now know it’s a problem with all men she’s met so far, not just the male in the adopter’s home.
Now for the good stuff! When there isn’t a man around, she is a wonderful dog! And she absolutely adores other dogs. Her previous owner had this to say:
“She was amazing with our rabbits, extremely non-threatening. She walks great on a leash, knows Sit and Lay Down, and she's a great listener.”
We know this isn’t an easy request, but Daisy’s perfect home would be female-only with at least 1 other friendly dog. She is also scared of cats and children.
